Wholly Mother Kick Off

This event is free and open to families of all shapes and sizes.
RSVP via Eventbrite required to be admitted to the event.

AIGA Women Lead is pleased to present Wholly Mother, an event series bringing together moms and mom-identifying folks from all different stages of motherhood to connect, learn, and celebrate in a supportive and safe environment.

The Wholly Mother series will kick off with an event inviting families from the Portland design community to discover and engage with family-focused local vendors and organizations. Pop in for brunch snacks, coffee, and beverages, along with a variety of kid-friendly crafts and activities. Wrangle the kiddos for a portrait session at the Lauren Allen Photography’s booth, or check out the Artichoke Music instrument zoo where kids are invited to explore as everyone enjoys live music from their talented professionals. Many vendors will offer discounts and coupons. Parents, participate in the Meet-and-Greet Designer BINGO challenge for a chance to win a fabulous prize made up of familly-focused goodies. Join us as we kick off this event series offering validation, encouragement, and permission to be real about work, life, and motherhood!

More about the kick off happenings:
Artichoke Music will offer a small instrument “zoo” where families can explore and touch instruments and there will someone seated with an instrument for a musical interlude.

Bethany Physical Therapy, Therapeutic Associates Now you can ‘see your core’! Theraputic Associates will offer a brief screening using rehabilitative ultrasound imaging to see your core and/or pelvic floor muscles and learn more about them.

Doula My Soul will offer a cozy nursing station in a cozy tent with supportive chairs, a diaper changing space, books and activities for older nurslings or their siblings, plus snacks and water for nursing parents.

Lauren Allen Photography is one of Portland’s premiere documentary lifestyle & portrait photographer. She believes it’s important to capture the magic of childhood & parenthood before time escapes you.

Luna Wellness will offer complimentary chair massages, along with a kid’s art table. Luna Wellness seeks to make self care simple for busy mamas with their membership based massage, acupuncture and chiropractic with on site childcare.

Portland Pediatric and Family Nutrition Stop by their table to get a tasty healthy snack and ask a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 20 years of pediatric nutrition experience your questions about raising mindful eaters.

Portland Mom’s Blog This collaborative blog written by and for local moms with posts on things to do around town, ways to get involved in the community, parenting tips, personal essays from local moms and more.

Yoga Way to Birth is an engaging, interactive childbirth preparation program that approaches birth as an embodied experience through yoga, meditation, and self-inquiry practices. Yoga Way to Birth will offer yoga pose demonstrations, a book reading and more.

Mother & Child Education Center is working to create a community of competent and confident parents who nurture their children, through the offering of no-cost services, connection, education, and support during pregnancy and early infancy.

Family Forward Oregon are mothers and caregivers that believe that our current economy can and must do more to support working families. We need paid sick days, paid family leave, workplace flexibility, and quality and affordable child care, and more. These policies are good for families, good for business, and good for Oregon.

Messy Madness is back! Our most popular kids event has returned at locations in Gresham/Troutdale, Portland, Beaverton and Vancouver!

Babies 12-36 months explore paint, shaving cream, fun tools and more for a great sensory experience. Babies work together pushing cars thru the paint, exploring with their feet/hands, utilizing brushes and more.

Each baby brings home a 4×4 canvas from their experience. Photos are taken for you, so that you can use the time to engage with your baby.

PARENTS GET MESSY TOO! Wear clothes you can get messy (paint does wash) and BRING TOWELS / WIPES (please do not bathe your kids in the sink)!

Each ticket includes one participating baby and up to two supervising adults.

*NOTE* If there is more than 2 adults that want to come (ie. Grandparents visiting from out of town etc.), they are able to purchase a separate ticket each as there is limited space. Please keep in mind that this takes a space away from a participating baby so please be courteous and limit this to 2 additional adults per group MAX. As well, we want to give our artists as much space as they can to explore so additional adults are asked to find a seat on the outskirts and observe. Thank you for your understanding!
