We are thrilled to welcome four more fabulous Portland-area mamas to our contributor team! Take a moment to get to know these lovely ladies…

Nadia

NadiaAbout Me: I’m Nadia, also known as mom, sister, daughter, marketer, mentor, recruiter, and teacher. I live on the border of Beaverton/Portland with my fabulous husband and two children: Zayn (4) and Zara (1)

Favorite family-friendly activity: Walks, going on our trampoline in the backyard, hitting the park, play dates with friends

Favorite date night spot: Yuki Sushi in Orenco Station – we LOVE this place

If I had a whole weekend to myself I would: Binge watch Game of Thrones, The Good Wife and Parenthood. Then, I would shop till I dropped and maybe try going for a swim.

My best motherhood advice: The lower your expectations in any given situation…the better. Once I accepted that motherhood was full of surprises and nothing would go my way, I became calmer and better able to manage/handle all the drama and messes!

Kendra

KendraAbout Me: I live in downtown Portland with my husband Steve, my daughter Karys, and my cat Cosette.

Favorite family-friendly activity: We just moved to Portland last summer, so our favorite activity is exploring the city together, then hanging out at home “snuggling and watching movies,” in Karys’ words.

Favorite date night spot: My husband and I love going to comedy shows at Brody Theater and watching movies at places where they serve beer and pizza (an experience much easier to find here than in Virginia).

If I had a whole weekend to myself I would: Plan something elaborate like a getaway to the beach or a spa day, but I would probably end up hanging out at home in my pajamas reading novel after novel.

My best motherhood advice: Forget your to-do list every once in a while and just enjoy spending time with your child.  My daughter is one of my favorite people ever, and I know I enjoy our time together so much more when I’m not distracted by all of the “shoulds” in my life.

Sparkle

SparkleS-headshotAbout You:  I currently live in NE Portland with my husband and 10-month old son.

Favorite family friendly activity: Eating breakfast at Slappy Cakes.

If I had a whole weekend to myself I would: Watch hours of TV crime shows (Criminal Minds, CSI, etc.) and make cards with my rubber stamps and crafting supplies.

My best motherhood advice: Always find time for yourself, even it’s only a few minutes everyday.

WynterWynter

About Me: I live west of Portland in Forest Grove with my California native husband, Jonathan, and our three children, Chloe, Adaya and Liam

Favorite family friendly activity: Spending a sunny day at the lake or river with our boat

Favorite date-night spot: Sushi and a glass of wine

If I had a whole weekend to myself I would: Read, write and relax!

My best motherhood advice: Leave room for growth not only in the lives of your children, but also in your and your spouse’s life. Sometimes we change and mature as much in these years as our kids!

Jen
Jen is a Type A introvert who is continually learning {in large part as a result of motherhood} that she can’t control it all and that everything is better with chocolate. After spending most of her life in Minnesota, she made Portland home a couple of years ago along with her New York native husband, Phil, and their lovely littles, Connor (November 2010) and Brielle (April 2013). Jen quickly fell in love with Oregon and, along with her family, is determined to explore all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. At their current stage of family life, she and her hubby give every adventure a 50/50 shot of succeeding without a child {or parent} meltdown.
