PMB Kids Takeover: A Father’s Day Poem

0

My name is Jannah-Rae, and I am taking over my mom, Ranya’s post this month with a poem I wrote for my Baba (dad in Arabic) this Father’s Day.

Father's day

To My Baba on Father’s Day

Dads are all different you see;

Which is fine, since anything can be.

Muslim, Christian, Hindu, too

Some like me, and some like you.

For Father’s Day I decided to say:

“I love you” to my baba in my own special way.

My baba is hardworking, kind, and tough,

Loving, caring, fit, and buff.

He wears green and black, white and blue,

The smile in his tender eyes is always true.

His brown hair is getting a little grey,

“I love you baby girl,” is what he always says.

I love you too, Baba, and on this special day

I want to tell you: “Your baby girl I will always stay.”

This is her second published piece of writing on PMB, but she has written lots more at home and school. When she’s not in school, Jannah-Rae plays the piano, gardens with her Baba, and plays with her little brother, Yousef, and their Arabic-speaking cat, Leo. She lives in Sellwood with her parents and maternal grandparents.
