PMB is delighted to partner with Rose City Junior to bring you the information in this post. We can't wait to see what family-friendly fun they'll offer this weekend at the OCC!

After attending our first “Con” last year as part of PMB’s partnership with PlayFairPDX, our family cannot wait to head back to Rose City Comic Con this September 13-15 at the Oregon Convention Center! Newly revamped as Rose City Junior, this event is a family-friendly experience hosted within the Rose City Comic Con space. This means that parents who have spent decades enjoying their favorite sci-fi, anime, fantasy, cosplay and gaming adventures can now share the experience with their kids!

Rose City Junior - Trolls

Not knowing what to expect last year, I was blown away. I LOVED seeing the carefully crafted costumes for people big and small. Marvel characters marched right alongside Dora the Explorer, who was occasionally spotted next to Pokemon. There was something for everyone. Kids were just as much into the experience as their grown-ups, gasping at unexpected sightings or jumping at the opportunity to try a hands-on activity.

Rose City Junior - Timber JoeyCharacter Appearances, Workshops, and Special Events

The line-up for this year’s Rose City Junior meet-and-greets includes Aladdin and Jasmine, Minions, Buzz Lightyear, and more. Kids can join in workshops designing comics, creating Lego Robotics, or making their own Ghostbusters ectoplasm (slime)! And the on-stage programming is jam-packed with an animal show from the National Wildlife Federation, Harry Potter trivia tournaments, and, of course, the annual costume parade. Kids will even get the chance to meet Timber Joey and many other familiar faces!

Exhibitors and Guest Experience

That is just a sampling of the special events taking place, but visiting the exhibitors and experiencing the crowd is also a huge part of the magic of Rose City Junior. At last year’s event, my son spent well over an hour learning to play a new card game, hosted by volunteers at an exhibitor booth. We checked out some awesome toys and gadgets and kids got to do science experiments and explore arts and crafts at different stops throughout the event. This year, Trackers Earth will be on-site with their wilderness and survival goodies.

Year-Round Inspiration

Inspired by the elaborate attendee costumes, we’re working on this year’s edition; you should see the Thanos ensemble my sister is making for my nephew! We’ve started the countdown to Rose City Junior at our house, and we hope to see you there! Grab your tickets online and get ready for the adventure!
