Express Yourself

2
We are thrilled to partner with the Expressing Motherhood, the stage show that is sweeping moms across the nation. Want to be in it? Submit your story today and you could be on the stage when it comes to Portland next spring!

You’re running late. One of your kids just took off his shoes because his socks don’t “feel right.” Your other kid just put an entire roll of toilet paper in the toilet. You can’t find your keys. You’re a mom, and you’re about to be elected to mayor of crazy town! The good news is you’re not alone, and you have a chance to express yourself! There’s a unique show called Expressing Motherhood, and it’s all about us moms.

expressing motherhood

Expressing Motherhood is a show unlike any other. It’s real women sharing real stories about their journey of mommy-dom, and it’s coming back, baby! Expressing Motherhood made a splash in its Portland debut in October. Producer Lindsay Kavet is bringing it back this April and accepting submissions December 1-7!

I had an absolute blast being a part of the October debut cast. I love the bond we share as moms, but this show brought that to a new level for me. I treasure the time spent with this cast and enjoy staying in touch with them. I think it showed me how truly courageous the love of a mother is. Here is my piece from Expressing Motherhood:

Everyone has a story. Now, here’s a chance to share yours! Submit it between December 1-7 to [email protected]. This is a great opportunity to share what motherhood means to you with the community. You don’t have to be a mother. You don’t have to be a writer. You don’t have to be a performer. You are remarkable and so are your stories. Just be your amazing self, and share from your heart. It is made of pure gold. Your story could inspire and encourage someone else. You are strong. You are courageous. You are a warrior. Let’s hear your roar!

If getting up in front of an audience isn’t your thing, you can still get in on the fun. Grab your mom tribe and come see the show in the spring. It is an evening of laughter, tears, music and celebration of our journeys of motherhood. You won’t want to miss it!

Jenny
Textbook extrovert. If there’s a stage, Jenny wants to be on it; whether it’s singing in church, doing stand-up comedy or acting. She has recently joined a cult called LuLaRoe. Her husband, David, is deeply concerned. Jenny and David, a pastor, are recently celebrating eighteen years of marriage. After years of infertility, they became adoptive parents of two year old twin boys in 2014. They’ve never been happier or more exhausted. Every day is an adventure. Jenny blogs at thefivestages.wordpress.com and has a regular feature in Tualatin Life newspaper called Everyday Heroes to celebrate those serving our community. She and her husband started a clothing line based on their story and you can check it out at bottlecapbadge.com. There’s nothing we can’t do with a little bit of love and a whole lot of caffeine.
