Have you ever been to Seattle on a trip with your family? Whether you visit on a weekday or weekend, there are a ton of family-friendly activities to do in Portland’s super cool sister to the north.

Skyline of SeattleMany people consider Seattle as the rainy city; however, like Portland, you can get really nice days for weather at any time during the year. Make sure to bring your walking shoes, because there is so much to see along the way to fun destinations.

There are so many things for adults to do in Seattle, but what can you do as a family? If you are sight-seeing, you get the best of both worlds when walking or traveling with your kids. Anywhere you look you might see water, the Space Needle, the Seahawks football stadium, the Great Wheel, and more! Here are a FIVE fun ideas for you and your family to hit up when visiting Seattle:

1. Pike Place Market

Not only does Pike Place have beautiful flowers always on display, but there are cute toys to buy, fun food to try, yummy donuts to eat, and you must stop by the fish market and watch them throw the fish around after someone has bought it! At Pike Place, there is something for everyone to see. If you can take a huge, beautiful bouquet home for $10, do it. They are worth it!

2. Seattle Aquarium

Make your way down to the waterfront to the Seattle Aquarium, and on your way walk through Post Alley to see the famous Gum Wall. Also on the pier are a ton of different shops to browse and restaurants to try. The aquarium is so large, plan at least two hours to go through the entire place. Children can touch the sea anemones and starfish, and sometimes you can even see scuba divers in the tanks!

3. Seattle Children’s Museum

This place is amazing, and HUGE! Normally kids’ museums are tiny, but this one goes on forever! They do a really great job showing culture throughout the museum, especially in a little area showcasing what homes look like in different countries. This museum offers such a great learning experience, and is a lot of fun to play at, especially if it happens to be raining on your trip! Luckily, they have an amazing food court in the building as well.

4. The Great Wheel

Seattle’s ferris wheel at Pier 57 is a great experience for the whole family. After you walk around the pier and visit the different stores, take a ride on the Great Wheel. It can hold up to eight people inside each gondola, and it gives you a great view of the city and water. Local tip: buy your tickets online before arriving at the pier.

You can take a bus from downtown Seattle to the zoo easily, and there are many food vendors inside to grab lunch from, or, pack a picnic lunch and sit outside on the greens with your family. If you happen to catch a rainy day, they have an exciting indoor playground that children can burn off energy!

Seattle is a wonderful place to visit with your family. Make it a point to get there and see the sights. Not only is it a great place for your family to visit, but it is a beautiful little-big city to see!
